the House Rules...

To ensure the relaxation and enjoyment of all guests, we have a set of rules in place to keep the environment of the onsen a healthy, safe, and calm one. Slip-ups are understandable, but multiple disturbances will result in your immediate displacement from the grounds.

We want everyone to feel relaxed and safe. The gentlemen guarding the premises are here for this purpose, to ensure your safety in case of disturbances, so please do not feel intimidated by them.

- GENERAL CONDUCT -

» No children under 12 in the hotsprings*
» No shouting
» No running
» Dispose of your towels in the proper laundry bins
» Do not carry food or drink to the hot springs
» Books must be checked out before you can take them out of the building

* - Children of any age are allowed in the Ryokan (Private) Package baths for an additional charge.

- BATHING ETIQUETTE -

» No splashing
» Wash yourself at the stations outside the bath before entering
(outside only)
» No clothes or towels in the bath
» Do not dip your head in the bathwater
» Do not get any soap, oils, or other substances in the bath

- GENDER RESTRICTIONS -

The Cove Onsen & Inn recognizes that gender is not a binary and is different from person to person, and as such we are very lax on our gender restrictions, unlike your standard onsen. The two indoor hotspring rooms are separated with red and blue curtains (red for women, blue for men), but we acknowledge that there are people who do not fit the assigned gender binary. Therefore, these colors are mere suggestions, and guests are free to choose whichever bath they wish as long as they do not disturb the other guests. Guests choosing the bath that they feel best suits their gender or preferred company is acceptable, but guests entering an oppositely bath to harass other guests will be swiftly removed from the premises.
